The Tour de France passing near our gite in July 2013

It is not a rumour anymore; it has been confirmed in our local papers!

Once again in 2013, the Tour de France is passing through Calorguen, a small village in Brittany only a couple of minutes away from our gite in Evran. The reason being Calorguen is the home town of Bernard Hinault.

It will be on Tuesday 9^th July 2013 for the stage 10 on the way to Saint Malo.

The village of Calorguen usually organises a big party and an interesting exhibition about cycling and of course Bernard Hinault.

If you are looking for an accommodation, be quick as gites in Brittany and mainly around Dinan are getting booked up very quickly!

Harvest festival

This harvest festival (Fête des battages, la Terre et ses Métiers) is on for the 37^th year!

It will take place on 15^th August 2012 in Hénansal from 12 pm and will carry on all afternoon and evening. 

What you will find there... 

Everything to do with Harvesting wheat (tools, tractors, etc); cider making, bread making, grocers, lacemakers, blacksmiths, shoemakers, stonemasons, sheepdogs, folk dancing groups, street entertainment, Breton games, exhibitions  of old tools and bicycles, vintage cars, tractors, etc. And if you are up for it, stay for dinner, they will serve the “Potée”, a traditional farmhouse casserole followed by some Breton music and dancing!   

Entrance fee: 4 euros.

Free for children under 12

Fire work display in Dinard

The August fire work display (feux d'artifices) in Dinard should take place tomorrow night - 14th August 2012.
If the rain doesn't spoilt the fun...
You need to stand at the 'Plage de l'Écluse' to enjoy it. It will start when it gets dark so around 10.30pm.
Go early to find a parking space... 

 Dinard fire work display is one for the biggest in the area. It will be worth it, I promise!



 

Last days for the sales!

If you haven’t picked up a bargain from the sales (Soldes) in France, hurry up. They are finishing tomorrow, 31 July.

Most shops still have a lot of stock left and most items are 50 to 70% cheaper!

The next sales in France will be mid January 2013.
